Alphen aan den Rijn
Parts of Amerikalaan closed from late August
Reconstruction of Amerikalaan runs from late August into the fourth quarter of 2026, with partial closures and temporary bus diversions.
The municipality plans to start reconstructing Amerikalaan after the summer construction break, around late August 2026. The phased work continues through the fourth quarter. A sunken section near the sports grounds will be raised, while the junctions with Watermunt and Speenkruid will become roundabouts.
What will visitors notice?
Sections of Amerikalaan will close to motor traffic during the works, with signed diversions for local and through traffic. The sports clubs remain accessible and emergency services retain access, although the approach route may change between phases.
Public transport will also be affected. Buses that normally use Amerikalaan will follow a temporary route; no buses will operate on the section between the Antonie van Leeuwenhoekweg/Flemingweg roundabout and the Amerikalaan junction during the works. Travellers with reduced mobility can use the municipality's free flexBuzz connection to a public-transport hub.
Recheck your route
The exact phasing and closures will be announced later. Check the official project page and the municipality's current roadworks overview shortly before travelling. Allow extra time when heading to the sports grounds, Kerk en Zanen or southern Alphen.
