Why visit?

Maggie Blue is a distinctive Bar & Kitchen on Hooftstraat, close to the centre and directly by the water. Its concept changes through the day: coffee and lunch in the afternoon, bites and cocktails at the bar, extended dinners at a table and music or dinner shows on selected nights.

Lunch, dinner and tasting menus

The lunch menu ranges from soup of the day at €8.50 and croquettes at €9.75 to more elaborate bread dishes and salads at around €13.50–€16. At dinner, choose à la carte or let the kitchen decide with four to seven courses. When checked, the four-course menu cost €45 and five courses €49 per person. Six and seven courses carried temporary introductory prices of €49 and €59; regular prices are €59 and €69.

À la carte and drinks

The current dinner menu combines European and Asian influences. Examples include tuna tartare, Peking duck, beef tataki, watermelon sashimi and sushi as starters. Mains range from a smashed burger and truffle pasta to bavette and cod. When checked, starters were €15–€18, mains €19–€27.50 and desserts €10.50–€15. Wine pairing costs €7 per glass and the reduced-alcohol Bob pairing €4 per glass.

High tea lasts 2.5 hours and costs €29.50 per person with unlimited tea, or €34.50 with a welcome cocktail. Our editorial assessment

How does Maggie Blue score?

Maggie Blue scores strongly as a distinctive Bar & Kitchen combining lunch, multi-course dinner, cocktails, music and late evenings. À-la-carte dining, four-to-seven-course menus, the waterside location and events provide variety. Its atmosphere-led approach and higher dinner prices suit a quick or quiet meal less well, while allergen and accessibility information could be clearer in advance.
